On March 13, 2025 Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian accident in Winter Haven.

The 911 call came in around 7:17 a.m. to 24th St NW and Ave G NW.

According to Polk County Sheriff’s Office PIO Carrie Horstman, an 11-year-old boy was struck by a Jeep after the Jeep stopped and then began to turn.

The child complained of leg pain. He was taken to a local hospital.

Nathaniel Gale, Polk County Fire Rescue PIO confirmed they transported the patient by ground (non-trauma).

PCSO patrol deputies cleared the scene at 9:05 a.m.
